About Our Program

Obesity is a national epidemic. Every day, nearly 1,000 people die due to obesity‐related diseases. And the problem is getting worse: Since 1960, the percentage of our population considered obese has nearly tripled.

The economic costs of obesity are staggering. Overweight and obesity‐related illnesses cost our healthcare system nearly $100 billion annually ‐‐ more than 9% of US healthcare expenditures. Lost productivity due to obesity saps nearly $4 billion from our economy every year.

The personal toll of obesity – social dislocation, depression, destroyed relationships and families – is immeasurable. Today, unprecedented numbers of children are obese and, without help, could be consigned to a life of health, social and economic challenges.

Our Mission
Our mission is to create a grass roots movement of people of all walks of life to change the way we talk and think about obesity. Our goal is to empower people with information and hope, and reverse the trend.

Obesity has many causes. For some, it rooted in illness and genetics. However, for many it is rooted in habits, emotions and lifestyle. These people find themselves in a cycle of despair, failure and misery.

For this latter group, we believe our message of “Hope, Commitment and Accountability” can help them achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle – and outlook ‐‐ without costly and disappointing fads, gimmicks or therapy.

Our Goal
We intend to communicate how “Hope, Accountability and Commitment” can change the way people across the nation think about obesity.

We want to create awareness of the problem of obesity the way other great movements have for the environment, breast cancer and AIDS. We hope to impact 10 million lives worldwide and collectively lose 250 million pounds.
